Athleta sustainable b corp

Athleta is a brand I’ve always admired. They reached out to me to play with their new sustainable line. I was only happy to oblige.

This year, Athleta received its B Corporation Certification, creating a legal commitment to people and the planet. By 2020, 80% of Athleta’s materials will be made with sustainable fibers.

With outerwear, Athleta is keeping 460,000 bottles out of landfills this year alone. Sustainably managed forests provide the fabric for ever so soft tops. Bottoms are created from recycled materials.

Athleta sustainable b corp criss cross hoodie review

Athleta’s Criss Cross Back Hoodie Sweatshirt is my favorite piece of this whole collection. Made of Lenzing Modal®, this fabric is a fiber that is produced from European beechwood trees. These trees are from sustainable forests where 99% of the raw material comes from certified or controlled sources. The hoodie is ultra soft, and ultra cozy. I lived in this for almost an entire week when I first got it. It retails for $79.

Athleta sustainable b corp wander slim pant review

The Wander Slim Pant is part workout, part business. This is my second favorite in the line. Made with recycled nylon, this piece looks as good in the outdoors as it does in the office. This zips in the back, a nice, formal touch. The Sculptek waistband helps hold all your squishy bits all in. This fabric looks fragile, but it’s abrasion-resistant for even the most burly of boulders. Plus, chalk also washes right out. These retail for $108, and I’m eyeing up the pair in red.

Athleta sustainable b corp cozier hoodie review

The Cozier PrimaLoft Hoodie is exactly like it sounds: cozy. Made of recycled poly, sourced from post-consumer plastic bottles, this is a great lightweight jacket for chilly fall days. The insulation is PrimaLoft Eco, consisting 50% recycled fibers mixed with PrimaLoft fibers. The hoodie retails for $148.

Athleta sustainable b corp coaster luxe sweatshirt review

The Coaster Luxe Sweatshirt is an oversized, ultra-soft shirt. For a less baggy fit, size down. I wish I did because it almost looked like a potato sack on me at certain angles. That being said, this is a piece I could live in. Like the Criss Cross Back Hoodie, it’s also made out of Lenzing Modal. This piece retails for $79 and comes in many colors.

You can shop all these looks at Athleta.
