Salewa Alp Trainers Mid GTX Hiking Boots

Salewa Alp Trainers Mid GTX Hiking Boots Review

When I signed up for #HellHikeAndRaft, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I imagined long, strenuous days climbing mountains with an epic group of people more fit than me. I’d been rocking the Ahnu Sugarpine Waterproof Boot when I said yes to the adventure. They’re still my go-to shoe for a good chunk of my hikes. But I’m the type of person that sprains an ankle while standing still. I wanted something a little sturdier for the unknowns of Idaho, and eventually Mt. Whitney that fall.

After a bunch of perusing and hemming and hawing, I settled on the Salewa Alp Trainers Mid GTX hiking boots.

Chums Latitude Accessory Cases

Chums Latitude9 and Latitude5 Accessory Case Gear Review

When I’m traveling anywhere, doesn’t matter where, I always bring two things: cosmetics and electronics. And those are two things that I’m really bad at keeping organized. Items always end up stuffed haphazardly wherever they fit or where I can easily reach for security checkpoints. For a while I was stealing my boyfriend’s Eagle Creek pouch, but he eventually wanted it back. When I discovered the Chums Latitude Accessory Cases, it was a match made in heaven.

Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Down Jacket Review

#findingwinter Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Women's Down Jacket Gear Review

Down jackets are kind of my thing and I really love them. Which is weird because I live in California and the last time we had a winter was probably before I graduated from college. But come on, a down jacket is your best friend. It keeps you warm. It packs down super small in your pack and is forgotten until you need it. It makes a great pillow when you forget yours while camping.

Mountain Hardwear Scrambler 30 Pack

#findingwinter Mountain Hardwear Scrambler 30 Pack Gear Review Photo by Nelson Salvatera

Since moving to San Francisco, I’ve come to realize that space and storage is a premium. There’s only so many backpacks I can own in a space that’s sub 600 square feet. I find that solid, all-around backpacks are hard to find. Most only excel at one thing or another, resulting in a giant collection of packs that you use for one thing, maybe two. This is where the Mountain Hardwear Scrambler 30 pack shines.

Aether Apparel Elite Leggings

Aether Apparel Elite Leggings Gear Review

A good pair of leggings is really hard to find. Some are too tight, some too loose. Some too thin, some don’t give enough support. Some show too much, and some have questionable manufacturers that I just can’t bring myself to support.

Cue Aether Apparel, a Los Angeles-based brand who prides itself on blending both form and function. The brand meticulously prides itself on every stitch and detail in their products. I’m always in the market for new leggings. One quick stop inside their San Francisco shipping containers and I was sold on the Elite Leggings.
