Lake Tahoe-Nevada State Park: Sand Harbor, rather Sand Harbor Overlook if you’re someone who never carries cash like me, is a section of the lake with enormous boulders dotting the shoreline and a sandy beach area. In the summer, it gets ridiculously packed with people playing in the water and laying out.

With this forever summer weather, the boulders have been relatively untouched by snow, making it a popular destination this winter, too! I spent some time hopping around some of the rocks and chasing lizards basking in the sun. I could spend forever here; it’s so gorgeous.

The fee for the state park is $7, but if you drive a little ways up the road towards Incline Village, there’s the Sand Harbor Overlook area that’s free. Parking is limited to 30 minutes, so it’s great if you’re not planning on staying for long. For more information, please visit the Nevada State Parks site here.
