Cold weather is quickly creeping upon us, and the best way to keep warm is to keep your noggin’ covered. The Outdoor Research Mainstay Beanie is a fun pop of color and poof for retaining heat on your head. I was instantly drawn to obnoxious brightness of the black/lemongrass combo.
Wear it two ways: with the cuff folded up for a snug fit, or with it pulled down for a slouchy fit. If you’ve got an average sized noggin’ or larger, this is will stay on your head spectacularly. If your noggin’ is smaller than average like mine, the fit will be a little breezier. Because of this, I generally opt to fold up the cuff to let less wind in and get more ear coverage.
It’s not the most technical, or the most practical beanie, but it’s my go to because it’s so much fun for commuting and huffing on the trail. At 4 oz, this isn’t going weigh you down; if you’re counting grams, there are definitely lighter beanies out there. The fabric is 100% acrylic so you won’t be constantly itching around your face.
Be the coolest kid on your block, at the crag, or on the trails with the Outdoor Research Mainstay Beanie. Or at least the brightest.
The Mainstay Beanie is now discontinued but Outdoor Research has plenty of beanies available.
This was provided to me for review as a part of the #ORInsightLab.
